Honda targets the masses in UK as well

  • The VTR 250 to debut later this year.

Motorcycle manufactures around the world are suddenly giving attention to the 250cc segment. Referred usually to beginner bikes abroad, a lof of action has been seen in the category latterly with the revamped Kawasaki Ninja 250R being one of the best bets. Honda has been selling the naked VTR 250 in Japan for donkey's years now and has decided to offer the same for the European markets later this year as well.

The VTR 250 essentially looks like a Ducati Monster rip-off with a similar kind of body work. The little bike wears a decent pair of tyres - 100mm up front and 140mm at the rear which gels well with the minimal body work. Power comes from a 250cc V-twin engine that develops around 30 horses which for a V-twin comes at a very high 10,500rpm. With this launch, Honda aims to take one the likes of the Ninja 250R and other high powered moto-scooters. And no, we don't see this bike heading to India any time in future.
